just over a year ago, I purchased a Bonsai tree from a street vendor. A little Chinese lady gave me some basic instructions and fertilizer and a small Juniper. I always loved the way thy looked like tiny windswept trees. Come see my growing collection.

The Floating World. I am not sure why I was so intrigued by the Japanese woodblocks of the 17th to 20th centuries, except that I have not artistic skills. I love the craftsmanship in creating woodblocks and resulting beauty of skilled artists. In the 17th to 19th centuries it was known as Ukiyo-e. In the 20th century it was Shin Hanga. Here are some of my favorite.

I got a federal license to communicate on the Ham bands as I was thinking about preparations for disasters. I joined RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services) for the city of Garland after taking a number of ARES training classes. (Amateur Radio Emergency Services. In case of major disasters, teams of ham operators go active to assist with communications between hospitals, police, anyone in need.
